Giorgio De Chirico: 1924

Giorgio De Chirico: 1924

On the occasion of the centenary of Surrealism (1924-2024), the Accorsi-Ometto Foundation is dedicating an exhibition to Giorgio de Chirico, considered a precursor of the movement by its founder Breton.

Focusing on a specific time span from 1921 to 1928, the exhibition highlights de Chirico's role in the birth and development of Surrealism, analysing his complicated relationship with André Breton, the movement's founder, the French poet Paul Éluard and his wife Gala (who later married Salvador Dalì).

More than 70 works are on show, including around 50 paintings and works on paper by Giorgio de Chirico, alongside around 20 portraits of Surrealist artists, poets and writers, photographed by Man Ray and Lee Miller, all from private collections or important museums and institutions.
